Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and Root Devs for using Root Keyboard. We’ve tried to keep them readable. Please read them together with our privacy policy.

Agreement

By installing or using Root Keyboard (the “app”) you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. If you use the app on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you can accept these terms for it.

The service

Root Keyboard is a keyboard for Android with optional AI features, including grammar correction, tone rewriting, translation, Ask AI, assistants, AI voice typing cleanup and Clever Reply. Features may change over time; we may add, improve or remove features, and some features may be limited by your plan or your words balance.

Your account

  • You can use the app as a guest or sign in with Google or Apple.
  • You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country.
  • Keep access to your sign-in account secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person per account. Don’t create accounts to collect extra trials or rewards.

Words, trial and bonus words

  • AI features use words from your wallet. The number of words an action uses is shown in the app and is based mainly on the length of the AI’s answer.
  • Your wallet has three kinds of words: subscription words, bonus words (from the daily bonus, referrals and promotions) and one-time trial words. They are used in that order.
  • Trial words are granted once per device. Daily bonus words can be claimed once per day per account and per device. Bonus words may have an expiry date, which the app shows.
  • Words have no cash value, can’t be transferred, sold or exchanged, and aren’t refundable, except where the law requires.
  • We may change reward amounts, streak rules and charging rules going forward. Changes don’t remove words already in your wallet, except words obtained through fraud, abuse or error.

Referral program

  • When someone installs Root Keyboard using your invite link or code, signs in and meets the qualifying condition shown in the app, you receive the referral reward (currently 2,000 bonus words) for up to 7 successful referrals.
  • Referrals must be real people on new devices. You can’t refer yourself, accounts on your own devices, or devices that have used Root Keyboard before. A code must be applied within the time window shown in the app, and each person can be referred only once.
  • Don’t spam invite links or offer payment for installs. We may withhold or remove rewards and suspend accounts involved in referral abuse.

Subscriptions and billing

  • Subscriptions are purchased through Google Play and billed to your Google Play account. Prices are shown in the app and in Google Play before you buy, in your local currency.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  • Each period includes the number of words described for your plan. Unused subscription words don’t carry over to the next period and end when the subscription ends.
  • Refunds are handled under Google Play’s refund policy. Deleting your account or uninstalling the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.
  • If we change a plan’s price, Google Play will notify you before it applies.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Root Keyboard or its AI features to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
  • harass, threaten, defraud or impersonate others, or create spam;
  • generate content that sexualises minors, promotes violence or hate, or is otherwise harmful;
  • reverse engineer, scrape, overload or interfere with the service, or bypass word limits, rate limits or security measures;
  • access the service through automated means or resell it.

AI output and your content

  • Your text and the results you receive are yours. You give us permission to process your text only as needed to provide the feature you tapped.
  • AI can make mistakes. Results may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable, and similar requests may produce similar answers for other people. Review results before you send them; you are responsible for what you send.
  • AI results are not professional advice (legal, medical, financial or otherwise).

Third-party services

Root Keyboard relies on third-party services, including Google Play, RevenueCat, Google and Apple sign-in, and AI model providers. Their own terms may apply. Root Keyboard is not affiliated with WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Gmail or other apps it works with.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time (how to delete). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, abuse rewards or put the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that AI results will be accurate. To the extent the law allows, Root Devs is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live. Before going to court, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve the issue.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post changes here and update the date above, and tell you in the app about significant changes before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms.
